Jodi Johnson

Jodi attended college at Miami University and New College of Florida where she pursued cultural anthropology and public archaeology. The experience of attending two vastly different institutions gave her an appreciation of higher education and all of the opportunities available to students. “I am in love with the liberal arts because through it I came to understand that what you study does not define you or your career, rather it opens up possibilities you never knew were there."

Before transitioning into international higher education, Jodi worked in Sarasota, Florida on historic preservation and advocating for protection of cultural resources and communities. Her specialty was concentrated on Paleo-Indian mortuary ponds, which occur only in Florida.

Jodi considers herself fortunate to combine her work with her passions. She admires her students immensely and believes they are brave and independent thinkers who have chosen to challenge themselves in a way that will impact them forever. “Their example helps lead the way for our domestic students and my hope is that Marian students then become inspired to think, participate, and act globally."

I think we live in a fascinating time of globalization. I am a true believer that sharing and experiencing cultures different than our own makes our world a better place. Marian offers an array of exchange programs that I hope every student takes advantage of while they are here."
