Marian University Founders Classic

Thank you for your support of the inaugural Marian University Founders Classic on September 12, 2019. Your generosity helped us raise $140,000 to support the Howard S. and Mary McNulty '47 Young family endowed scholarships.

Each year, the Marian University Founders Classic honors a special individual who has helped make the university what it is today. The 2019 inaugural event honored Howard S. and Mary McNulty Young ’47. Mary was a living legend who has played a significant role in the growth and prestige of Marian University as a dedicated alumna, board of trustees emeriti, and honorary degree recipient.

Mary McNulty Young is a retired Indianapolis attorney and the matriarch of one of the city's most service-oriented and devoutly Catholic families. A 1947 graduate of Marian University, she was one of only two women in a class of 150 students at Indiana University School of Law. She credits her Marian University education with being the "bedrock" for her legal career. With her husband, the late Howard S. Young Jr., she helped build the law firm of Young and Young into a practice that emphasizes social justice and incorporates the Franciscan values learned at Marian University into each client relationship.
