Summary of Benefit Plans

Full-time faculty and staff at Marian University enjoy a competitive employee benefit package that includes:

  • Paid time off

    • For staff this includes up to 20 days per year of vacation, 11 paid holidays, sick leave, and bereavement leave.

    • Full-time faculty paid time off is in conjunction with the academic calendar.

  • Group insurance plans

    • A choice of HMO or POS health insurance plans are provided by Advantus Health Solutions.

    • A voluntary dental plan is with Health Resources Inc. (HRI).

    • A voluntary vision plan is with Davis Vision.

    • Group life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance, valued at one times an employee's salary, is with American United Life.

    • Voluntary life insurance which requires a payroll deduction is with American United Life. 

    • Short-term and long-term disability programs are with American United Life.

    • Flexible spending accounts, both medical and dependent care, are through Discovery Benefits

  • Retirement plan

    • TIAA-CREF - Employees are eligible after one year of service or after one year of service at another institution of higher learning prior to employment with Marian University.  If you contribute 3% of your salary, the University contributes 7% of your salary.  If you contribute 2% of your salary, the University contributes 5% of your salary.  If you contribute 1% of your salary, the University contributes 3% of your salary.

  • Internal tuition remission and/or external tuition exchange programs

  • Employee use of the on-campus exercise fitness areas

The university also participates in mandatory federal and/or state programs such as social security, unemployment compensation, and worker’s compensation insurance programs.
