A key to understanding what it means to be human is to explore the development of human culture from ancient to modern times.
The College of Arts and Sciences coordinates a one-semester comprehensive course in humanities, established in 1965 by the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, Indiana.
Team-taught by faculty with broad range of liberal arts expertise, the course analyzes literature, art, architecture, music, philosophy, religion, science, and politics from the classical world through medieval, renaissance, romantic, and modern times.
As part of your cultural experience, you will attend symphony concerts, theater performances, art exhibits, museum displays, and foreign film series.
Completing general education, core, required, and elective courses in the arts and sciences provides you with an interactive, enriching curriculum that empowers you to become a big thinker, exceptional communicator, strong collaborator, and much more.
In conjunction with The Exchange, each department in the College of Arts and Sciences will help you prepare for life after graduation, including developing a strong resume and cover letters, practicing your interviewing and professional networking skills, and finding a range of open positions for your employment applications.
In addition, we'll prepare you to be a strong candidate for admission if you plan to continue your education at the master's or doctoral level in a graduate or professional school.
